Women in their long skirts and dresses,
White women with clean and neatly placed tresses.
Black women pass places where they are banned,
All these women live lives they cannot stand.
This is all during the Great Depression,
When all people fought to fight recession.
Signs banning people from specific places,
People with tears running down their faces.
Hopes and dreams for equality to arrive,
Everyone knowing how rare it is to thrive.
Men search for jobs all over the town,
But almost every place will turn them down.
Not enough cash for food or clothes,
How do you get money? Nobody knows.
The scene of this town is rather depressing,
Most of the people are struggling and stressing.
It's so hard to live when the economy goes drown,
It's so hard to live when half the people only frown.
This is my old town,
All Run Down,
People walk with a frown,
For there are no jobs to be found,
The Land is dry and cracked,
And the people’s houses are packed,
All the people are poor,
Many houses have no door,

As you walk down a narrow road with a lot of trees around
You'll come across a creepy looking church with two skinny windows
You want to go over and sees what's inside but you're not sure what will happen
It just so happens that an old haunting spirit lurks around that house at night
Everybody in this town is terrified of this old church because of its reputation
The brave soul of this town has still to enter this death-defying church
Are you going to enter the church? Or should you send a poor Negro to do it?
Oh but you do want to look and see what's inside for yourself because you're not sure you believe the rumors
So you go to the local ratty general store with your car and gather some materials for the trip
As you retrieve your items that you've just brought you start to get tense
Could this be anxiety that is eating me from the inside out?
Almost to the church now, face your fate and you are getting even more anxious
The car stops and you are starring at a ratty looking church
Double taking as you walk along the dirty and cracked path towards the church
At the door now and almost about to faint, are you?
You hand involuntarily grips the handle as if to turn the knob and open the door
You stop, but why?
What you see as you look leaves you breathless and paralyzed
An African American spirit leaks out of the window and in creepy whisper says,
"Depression!!! Ha, you don't even know what that is
Try loosing your family, money and everything else worth holding onto int he world
You start to head away from the church and back to the safety of your automobile
A quarter of the way there, half way there, three quarters, almost there
You take out the key and unlock the door and get into the car
Driving along side the road you get back to the center of town
As you stop along side the same general store that you were at before you park and go in
Old man Perkins is sitting in his old rocking chair humming a nice tune
You stare at him in confusion, and you tell him that you went to the church
He doesn't seem astonished for I know that the church is horrible
He just look out the window and squints at your car
"Why does your car have a sign on it?"
You respond as if the old man dumb or has been beaten for money
"What in gods name are you talking about?"
You turn around to see a sign with the words, "What's life for if you'll loose everything soon and go into a serious depression?"
You look confused and later find out a horrible truth!
